This portfolio is called A Life's Journey- Work in Progrss. The original concept was to create a collage for each year or period of my life. I started in the beginning and quickly realized that issues from the past would redirect my attention to other areas of my life and so the linear aspect has been abandoned. It is still part of the overall intent to continue with this theme. These images are from the period birth to age 4.

I was given a doll that I loved at about the age of 4. She quickly became my companion and confidant. I loved her with a passion. I recall one incident where we were getting ready for church and I was about 5. I wanted to take my doll friend to mass with me but my parents objected. I must have resisted for she was taken and put in the hutch drawer just above my reach. I remember it as though it was yesterday. She has remained in my thoughts for all of these years and find myself talking and sharing with her again as I reflect on the memories of my life. She was always there for me. The strange thing is I can't remember her name.

The title A Life's Journey-A Work in Progress gives me the freedom to continue with this portfolio until I feel it is done. The medium of image and emulsion transfer gives me the tactile and emotional feel I look for in conceptual work. The giclee process allows me to reproduce the original image flaws and all.

Imagination 8x10 Photograph-Giclee on paper
Imagination is a photograph inspired by a watercolor painting Barbara made as a child. This photographic collage speaks of the creativity in all children and the search for the keys to the imagination we all had as children. Image transfer is a very organic process that allows the artist to explore the aspects of deep emotions. The finished piece has a soft, ephemeral look and quality that seems to transcend time. Printed on 100% rag paper with archival inks
